Toys R Us: Free Lego Snowman Kit for Kids on Saturday, February 11 (From 12-2 PM Only)

Here in Toronto, at least, we haven't had much snow at all this winter. If you and your kids are missing out as well, you might want to stop by Toys R Us on Saturday, February 11 for a free Lego Snowman kit! We found the kit here and it looks like a pretty cute little snowman complete with top hat, broom and bow tie. If your kids are too small (5 or under) for Legos, there will be a Duplo Penguin kit available for them.

Toys R Us states that there are 100 Lego Snowman kits available per store, and only 50 Duplo Penguin kits, so you'll definitely want to get there early to ensure your kids can take part. Express Stores will not have Duplo Penguin kits.

This promotion is available from 12-2 PM on February 11, and we suspect that supplies will be depleted quickly.

Royal Canadian Mint: Free Legendary Nature Coin Collector Card (via Facebook)

Did you know 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of Parks Canada? To commemorate the occasion, the Royal Canadian Mint has released a series of Legendary Nature coins. If you've been keeping an eye on your money, you may have noticed the Wood Bison quarter, which went into circulation in January. This month, the Orca quarter has been put into circulation, and the Peregrine Falcon is featured on next month's quarter. There is also a Park Canada loonie and Boreal Forest toonie.

On their Facebook page, the Royal Canadian Mint is giving out free collector cards to hold the coins. To get yours, just click on the "Get your collector card" tab on the page and enter your mailing information. Your card should arrive shortly afterwards.

There's a limit of one collector card per household, and it should be noted that the coins are not included (you'll have to look around in your change for those!).

Dropbox: Get 500MB of Free Space for Every 500MB of Photos/Videos You Automatically Upload

Here's a great freebie from Roll in the Freebies Forum: Dropbox is testing out their new automatic photo/video upload feature, and while it's in beta, you can get up to 5GB of free space added to your account simply by giving it a whirl.

To get the free bonus, you will need to download the latest build of Dropbox here (available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linus xB6 and Linus xB6_64). After installing, connect your camera or phone to your computer and the importer should auto-run. Select the Dropbox importer, and your files will be imported to your Dropbox folder.

You'll receive a 500MB space bonus for your first import (any size), and then an extra 500MB storage bonus for every 500MB of photos/videos you upload thereafter (up to 4.5GB total).

If you count the 500MB bonus from your first import, you can get up to 5GB of additional storage for free! Since this feature is still in beta, they suggest that you backup your Dropbox files before upgrading to the build. Make sure you read through the notes before trying this out.

It's official; 2012 is drawing near. If you are a Telus customer (home phone, cell phone, internet or TV subscriber) you can now order your free 2012 Telus calendar. In the past, these calendars have been quite stylish and attractive, with pictures reminiscent of their television commercials. (By which we mean, more cute animals than you can shake a stick at.)

To get your calendar, you'll need to fill out a short survey and provide your mailing address. Your calendar will be shipped 4 to 6 weeks after you place your request. Enjoy!

You've probably come across TED or TED Talks before but just in case you haven't seen any before, you can go to TED.com and view all the TED Talks online or via dedicated iPad, iPhone, Android, and even PalmOS Apps.

If you haven't seen a TED Talk the whole organization and content that ultimately is created is simply incredible. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design with their tagline being Ideas Worth Spreading. Since the launch of the TED conference in 1984 with the goal of bringing people together to spread these ideas they've broadened themselves out to almost anything of interest. From all these events, there are now over 1,000 talks that you can watch online including these recommended Talks:

Chapters/Indigo: Free In-Store Wi-Fi for Plum Rewards and IRewards Members

Forum user afireinside27 gave us a heads up that Chapters/Indigo are now offering free unlimited Wi-Fi in stores! In order to access the Wi-Fi, you will need to be a Plum Rewards or IRewards member. You can register for Plum Rewards for free here.

The free Wi-Fi is available through Bell, so Bell Mobility customers can also take advantage. You'll be presented with a sign-in page when you load your browser. Once you've signed in, you'll have unlimited use while you are within the store. To find your nearest Chapters/Indigo location, click here.

Play StarCraft 2: Starter Edition for Free

Here's some more free gaming for you to enjoy. If you haven't picked up StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty, you can now access a decent amount of the content for free with StarCraft 2: Starter Edition. Here's a rundown of what you will have access to:

first four missions of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty single-player campaign
first two Challenges: Tactical Command and Covert Ops.
access to the Terran race in Custom Games and Single-Player vs. AI.
access to the following custom maps (may rotate over time): Xel’Naga Caverns, Shattered Temple, Discord IV, High Orbit

You get a pretty good taste of multiplayer with 1 race, and the starter edition is even capable of watching replays. That's not too shabby!

Heroes of Newerth PC Game goes Free to Play

Heroes of Newerth, a popular game in the increasingly popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre, is now offering free to play access. Previously, there was no way to play other than plunking down $30. Now, anyone can play and have access to a rotating crop of 15 heroes and the option of purchasing more. As a free user, you still have limited matchmaking options. With more playing time or in game microtransactions, you can move up to a "verified" account for more options.

If you've never played DotA (Defense of the Ancients)) / MOBA style games before (like the original DotA, League of Legends, or Bloodline Champions), free play is a good price to get your feet wet! If you're interested, note that League of Legends (a competitor of Heroes of Newerth) has been free from the start.

October 8 Update: Netflix.ca is adding new titles at a fast clip, so it's worth taking a look if you haven't already. In addition to the first three seasons of Mad Men (not available in the US!), they've got new seasons of Intervention along with I Love You, Beth Cooper, The Secret Life of Bees and more episodes of MST3K than you could shake a stick at.
